Swedish Massage (Back to Top)

Swedish Massage is a very relaxing and therapeutic style of bodywork. It combines oils or lotion with an array of strokes such as rolling, kneading, and percussion to help the body improve its circulation. The benefits of this type of bodywork are wide-ranging and include relief from aches and pains, decreased stress levels in the body, enhanced mental clarity, improved appearance, and greater flexibility.

Deep Tissue Massage (Back to Top)

Deep Tissue Massage is a form of bodywork that aims to relieve tension in the deeper layers of tissue in the body. Deep Tissue Massage is a highly effective method for releasing chronic stress areas due to misalignment, repetitive motions, and past lingering injuries. Due to the nature of the deep tissue work, open communication during the session is crucial to make sure you don’t get too uncomfortable. Keep in mind that soreness is pretty common after the treatment, and that plenty of water should be ingested to aid with the flushing and removal of toxins that will have been released from the deep tissue during the session.

Sports Massage (Back to Top)

Sports Massage is a type of massage designed for highly active people who engage in athletics.  Engaging in sports is harsh on the body and can often lead to injuries in both the short and long term.  Sports Massage enhances performance and prolongs a sports career by helping to prevent injury, reduce pains and swelling in the body, relax the mind, increase flexibility, and dramatically improve recovery rates.  Sports Massage is also highly effective in aiding the rapid recovery of an athlete from an injury by encouraging greater kinesthetic awareness and in turn promoting the body’s natural immune function.

Russian Massage (Back to Top)

Russian Massage

Russian Sports Massage is used for pre and post athletic event considerations.  This includes the applicatin of  ‘hygenic’- principals of Russian massage for continued health and vitality of the individual during non performance periods.

Developed in the former Soviet Union and contrary to popular believe, Russian Massage is considered to be one of the most non-invasive and relaxing forms of massage therapy.  The philosophy considers pain avoidance during therapy as a key factor in producing better performance outcomes.

Combining aspects of both therapeutic and sports principles, Russian massage uses a variety of specific techniques to release stress and enhance circulation. As with all forms of massage therapy, open communication during your session is encouraged to make sure you are benefitting from the experience as much as possible.

Infant Massage (Back to Top)

Infant Massage is a style of bodywork designed specifically to promote the healthy development of your infant.  Caring human touch is crucial for a healthy thriving baby, and the benefits of massaging a young child are many, including:

  • Improved growth and development of the brain and nervous system

  • Strengthened immune system function

  • Regulated sleeping patterns, leading to deeper sleep

  • Greater levels of trust and intimacy between parent and child

Pregnancy Massage (Back to Top)

Pregnancy Massage is a form of bodywork designed specifically for pregnant women.  Pregnancy is a time in which a woman’s body endures tremendous stress due to dramatic physical, mental, and emotional changes.  Using various techniques specifically for the new mother, Pregnancy Massage helps alleviate discomforts experienced throughout the pregnancy.  The benefits are profound, including emotional support, the reduction of joint pain due to extra weight and postural imbalance, improved breathing and relaxation, and relief from uncomfortable digestive issues.

Stone Therapy (Back to Top)

Stone Therapy is a type of bodywork that uses deep penetrating heat and/or alternating cold from specialized stones.  The physiological benefits of alternating hot and cold to the body have long been scientifically and medically proven.
Stone Therapy delivers a profound expansion and contraction inside your circulatory system, improving the function of your lymphatic and immune systems, and enhancing your body’s self-healing mechanisms.  This style of bodywork takes you into deep states of relaxation, releasing stress and anxiety, detoxifying the body, and balancing your nervous system.

Bamboo fusion TM (Back to Top)

Bamboo-fusion TM

Bamboo-fusion TM
Jody is one of a handful of licensed professionals in the Pacific Northwest trained in this new modality.

Warmed bamboo sticks are used to melt away tension and soreness... The experience is similar to the feeling of hot stones with a more gentle and soothing application of heat to support a transformative and deeply  relaxing experience. People report feeling  very  calm and centered after treatment.

Trigger Point Therapy (Back to Top)

Trigger Point Therapy is a style of bodywork that focuses on stimulating and releasing “trigger points” in your body.  Trigger points are tender areas of tension similar to acupressure points, except they occur in the belly of the muscle tissue rather than along the energy pathways of the body.  These ‘knots’ are built up throughout a person’s life due to physical, mental, and/or emotional stress.  During a session, focused pressure is applied through a variety of techniques order to release your trigger points.  This process can be quite painful at times, yet the effects are lasting and profoundly transformative.

Lymphatic Drainage (Back to Top)

Lymphatic Drainage Therapy aims to gently and rhythmically move the lymph through the body, especially swollen areas of the body, relieving pressure and enhancing the functioning of the immune system.  As both a preventative and remedial technique, MLD can be used for a wide range of purposes including faster recovery from injury, reduction of swelling and discomfort from pregnancy, and strengthened resistance to illness.

Medical Massage (Back to Top)

Medical Massage differs from regular Massage and Bodywork in that the treatment is specifically directed to resolve conditions diagnosed by a medical doctor.  I may use a variety of modalities or techniques during the treatment, but I focus the treatment only on the specific areas of the body related to the diagnosis.  This enhances the body’s natural self-healing process and reduces the needed recovery time from injury or after surgery.
I accept some insurance plans with doctor's prescription and referal.  American Specialty Health, ODS, Health Net, State Farm, Aetna and Other insurance plans included.  If your policy covers alternative care it may also cover massage and may not require a doctor's prescription for massage.

Acupuncture (Back to Top)

Acupuncture is one of the oldest, most commonly used forms of medicine in the world. Originating in China more than 4,000 years ago, acupuncture is currently one of the most widely researched, practiced, and respected forms of complementary medicine in the U.S.
According to Chinese Medicine, your overall health is determined by the quality of the Qi (energy) flow through the natural pathways of your body.  Acupuncture uses a variety of techniques, including placing very thin sterile needles into specific points on the body, to stimulate and improve your Qi flow.  The many benefits of this type of therapy include:

  • Pain reduction

  • Relaxation of body and mind

  • Stress and tension relief

  • Increased blood circulation

  • Increased energy levels

  • Aids with digestion and toxin removal

  • Improved internal organ function

  • Relief from bad habits and addictions

  • Greater sense of overall well-being

Moxibustion (Back to Top)

Moxibustion is a traditional Chinese medicine technique that involves the burning of mugwort, a small, spongy herb, to facilitate healing.  Moxibustion has been used for healing purposes throughout Asia for thousands of years.  The purpose of moxibustion, as with most forms of traditional Chinese medicine, is to strengthen the blood, stimulate the flow of Qi (energy), and enhance overall vitality and health.
Among other benefits, a landmark study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association in 1998 found that up to 75% of women suffering from breech presentations before childbirth had fetuses that rotated to the normal position after receiving moxibustion at an acupuncture point on the bladder meridian.

Reflexology (Back to Top)

Reflexology is a type of bodywork that focuses on applying pressure to the specific nerve zones in your feet and hands.  Unlike other massages that intend to mostly relieve tension in the feet and hands themselves, reflexology is a far more in-depth science that aims to harmonize your entire body.  According to reflexology, every part of the human body is mapped into the feet and other extremeties.  Reflexology treatments have been found to be highly effective for conditions such as allergies, headaches, and depression.
